When you actually ask for volunteers in a stage situation - as much as you want to build rapport with the audience firstly, you also want to remain in control and to look like you have the abilities you claim to have. An important factor is that when they come up on stage - avoid making eye contact with them as much as you can, if you need to look at them, use the hypnotic gaze. Otherwise, wander around casually and command the home that is your stage. Remember, the people who are coming up onto your stage are guests and aren’t normally used to being in front of such crowds whereas you are at home and comfortable in your surroundings, installing so much more belief into your volunteers. In a situation where you are at a party or in a small room with friends, you can use your hypnotic gaze when you have to look at them.
