The Technology of Lubricant Free Bearings
In the past, bearings required some type of lubricant to continue to operate as they were designed to operate. The lubricant served also to keep the bearing from wearing out, and to prevent overheating of the bearing due to the friction involved. However, advanced technology has given us lubricant free bearings. Lubricant free bearings are made of plastic, and this is important because of the low heat produced by friction from plastic. The use of lubricant free bearings is becoming more popular, as it is seen as yet another way to reduce the dependence on oil, and often, plastic bearings can be created from recycled plastic as well.
